ACEF Representative participated in the 2nd China-Myanmar Roundtable Conference on Peoples Exchanges in Myanmar

          The 2nd China-Myanmar Roundtable Conference on Peoples' Exchanges was held on March 13 2014 in Yangon, Myanmar, which was to aim at promoting people-to-people understanding between the two countries. The conference was co-organized by China NGO Network for International Exchange (CNIE) and the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS) of Myanmar Development Resource Institute (MDRI), and its theme is “Chinese and Myanmar’s NGOs in joint action”. As one of China’s NGOs in the field of the environment, ACEF was invited to participate in the conference.
          Both U Ko Ko Hlaing, chief political advisor to Myanmar president as well as chairman of MDRI-CSIS, and Mr. Li Jinjun, executive vice-president of CNIE, participated and made opening addresses at the conference. About 100 participants from NGOs, business, circles and scholars of both Myanmar and China attended and discussed on approaches to enhancing people-to-people communication between China and Myanmar, plan of action for practical cooperation between Chinese and Myanmar’s NGOs as well as non-governmental efforts for building a good environment in support of China-Myanmar economic cooperation.
          Before and after the conference, ACEF representative participated in the Hospital Bus Donation Ceremony sponsored by the China Foundation for Peace and Development and the Learning and Sports Stationary Donation Ceremony co-organized by CNIE and Yangon University, and visited Myanmar’s NGO.
