Myanmar Non-governmental Delegation Visited ACEF to Accelerate People-to-People Friendship

The 5-person Myanmar non-governmental delegation led by Mr. U KyeeMyint, Chairperson of the Myanmar Lawyer Network, Mr. Peng Hongwei, Director of Academic Committee, China Myanmar Friendship Association, and Mr. Jason Tower, Representative of American Friends Service Committee, visited ACEF on the afternoon of July 10, 2014, in Beijing, China. Ms. Wei Xiaojuan, Director of General Department of Environmental Legal Service Center, and Ms. Gao Xiaoyi, Vice Director of International Cooperation Department, ACEF, hosted the meeting.
ACEF representatives introduced the value, organizational structure and major brand activities of ACEF, especially the achievements and operational mode of the Environmental Legal Service Center, and played the video of “Protecting the Environmental Rights and Justice of the Public” implemented by ACEF. Mr. U KyeeMyint and other representatives from Myanmar proposed cooperation suggestion on Myanmar-China Environmental Law Comparison Program, and discussed the application of law in China and Myanmar, the environmental tribunal, and the compensation for environmental damages, etc.. Mr. Peng Hongwei and Mr. Jason Tower actively participated in the discussion. This meeting will lay a good foundation for accelerating Myanmar-Chinese people’s friendship and promoting the environmental South-to-South program of ACEF in the future.
Ms. Li Lei and Ms. Liu Jie from the International Cooperation Department of ACEF also participated in this meeting.
