The release of the “Cards of the Aquatic Biological Species in the Ten Major Rivers of China“ and “Catalogue of life China 2015 Annual Checklist, China Biodiversity Red List “ Promotional Videos

    As of now, the “Cards of the Aquatic Biological Species in the Ten Major Rivers of China “ and “Catalogue of life China 2015 Annual Checklist, China Biodiversity Red List “ promotional videos, a joint-effort between the Ministry of Environment Protection and the All-China Environment Federation has been officially released.

    Initiated by the Ministry of Environment Protection, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of Water Resources, the production of “Cards of the Aquatic Biological Species in the Ten Major Rivers of China “ started in May 2013 and was formally administered by the All-China Environment Federation.  The project selected ten rivers with a wealth of biodiversity, including the  Yangtze River, the Yellow River, thePearl River, the Heilongjiang River, the Huaihe River, the Liaohe River, YarlungZangbo River, the Lancang River, the Nujiang River, and the Ertix River. Then, itengaged Internetusers and experts to select a variety of organisms to be featured on identification cards to be showcased in the “Cards of the Aquatic Biological Species in the Ten Major Rivers of China” promotional video. Through the promotion of these ten rivers, this project hoped to promote biodiversity and environmental protection.

    The “Catalogue of life China 2015 Annual Checklist, China Biodiversity Red List “ promotional video, on the other hand, was written by the Department of Environmental Protection and the Chinese School of Science in 2008. Lasting a total of five years, this project attracted over 500 experts from all over China and created the most comprehensive and detailed flora and vertebrate categorization volumes to date.

    The “Cards of the Aquatic Biological Species in the Ten Major Rivers of China “ promotional video was a joint-creation of the Ministry of Environment Protection and the All-China Environment Federation and was premiered on May 22, celebrating the “International Day for Biological Diversity.”
